A Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and injured two others in the southwestern Voronezh region, local officials said Tuesday, with online retailer Wildberries saying that a fire broke out at one of its logistics centers during the air assault.
Voronezh region Governor Alexander Gusev said a 49-year-old man died after being hospitalized for injuries he sustained from falling drone debris. He said two others, one of whom had been at a “large logistics center” during the attack, remained hospitalized.
Wildberries confirmed that its logistics center was struck and said it evacuated all of its employees. The company later said firefighters managed to put out a blaze that erupted at the facility, adding that “most” of the goods stored there were undamaged.
Separately, in the Orenburg region near the border with Kazakhstan, local authorities said a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at an “industrial enterprise.” No injuries were reported.
Unverified reports identified the target of the Orenburg attack as the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery, located around 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) away from the border with Ukraine. Ukraine has repeatedly targeted the facility since the 2022 invasion.
