A 'Hotel Del Luna' spinoff anchors a slate of major projects marking the return of K-drama favoritesA new class of K-drama leading men is stepping back into the spotlight following their mandatory military service, with tentpole projects lined up for their returns. "Four Hands Two Sonatas," starring Song Kang (tvN) First among them is the "Sweet Home" superstar Song Kang. The actor, known for his roles in "Love Alarm," "My Demon" and Netflix's hit "Sweet Home" franchise, is headlining tvN’s upcoming drama "Four Hands Two Sonatas," premiering Aug. 29. Set within an elite music school, the series stars Song as Bi-o, a piano prodigy who clashes with a fellow music prodigy played by Lee Jun-young. The two form a close friendship while becoming fierce rivals as they navigate competition and come of age at the elite institution.Song enlisted in the military in April 2024 and was discharged in October 2025. While he has since met fans through a series of fan meetings, "Four Hands Two Sonatas" marks his first acting role in roughly two years, following the July 2024 release of the military action flick "Escape" and Netflix’s "Sweet Home" Season 3.The show has also sparked speculation over possible homoerotic undertones in the relationship between Bi-o and Jung-yo. The broadcaster, however, has not officially characterized their relationship in those terms, instead describing the pair as both treasured friends and rivals. Lee Do-hyun (Yue Hua Entertainment) Song’s "Sweet Home" co-star Lee Do-hyun is also making his post-service comeback, starring in Netflix’s fantasy series "Grand Galaxy Hotel." The show is set in the same universe as the 2019 hit "Hotel Del Luna," centering on a mysterious hotel that operates only at night to house the souls of the dead. Lee is slated to play Eun-ha, a prickly general manager with a mysterious past who takes over the property after its previous owner vanishes, quickly becoming involved in the hotel's secrets.Lee completed his 21-month enlistment in the Air Force in May 2025. During his service, his film "Exhuma" became a major box-office success, surpassing the 10 million admissions threshold in Korea. Lee also clinched the Best New Actor award at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards for his performance as the shaman Bong-gil. "Spooky in Love," starring Ong Sung-woo (tvN) Former Wanna One member-turned-actor Ong Seong-wu also recently returned to the small screen, starring alongside the Hallyu sensation Park Eun-bin in the romance-fantasy "Spooky in Love," which concludes its run on Aug. 23. The 12-episode series reimagines the 2011 romantic-comedy film "Spellbound," expanding the supernatural premise for television. The plot follows a chaebol heiress cursed with the ability to see ghosts who falls for a prosecutor, played by Yang Se-jong. Ong plays Kang Min-hwan, an ambitious hotel heir, marking his first villainous role since his acting debut.Ong completed his mandatory military service in 2024. Speaking ahead of his return to TV, the actor acknowledged the pressure that came with taking on his first project after his enlistment."After my discharge, I was eager to get back to work and had big ambitions for a fresh start. I tried to appear confident on the outside, but inside, I was extremely nervous. I went to the script reading, and my hands were shaking, and my heart was pounding out of my chest," Ong said at a press conference on July 14.
