Death toll in Colombia’s earthquake climbs to 132 — local radio

BUENOS AIRES, August 11. /TASS/. At least 132 people were killed and 570 more injured following a powerful earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10, the local BluRadio radio broadcaster reported.

According to BluRadio, a red level danger alert has been issued in 32 cities across the country and it indicates widespread damage inflicted by the natural calamity on their territory.

Earlier, the Colombian Geological Service announced that the 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the western part of Colombia on August 10 and it was the most powerful quake to hit the country in the past decade. The earthquake’s epicenter was registered in San Jose del Palmar (Choco Department), according to the service.

President Abelardo de la Espriella reported earlier that the biggest impact was reported in the cities of Pereira and Manizales.
