Washington (EFE).- The United States President Donald Trump responded to Iran on Monday, stating that the US is also demanding compensation for damages caused by the Islamic Republic, after Tehran requested that Washington provide compensation for the consequences of the war.
«It is an interesting idea because now I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous,» he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Trump cited the 2000 Al Qaeda attack on the USS Cole, which resulted in the deaths of 17 American sailors, an attack the US accuses Iran of being involved in.
The president also stated that Tehran should compensate the families of the thousands of protesters killed during the Ayatollah regime’s crackdown on demonstrations over the past 50 years.
«I have instructed my representatives to put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations,» he noted.
