In light of the devastating earthquake in Colombia Monday morning, many of the country’s biggest stars are calling for support. J Balvin, Maluma, Shakira, Karol G, and more are using their platforms to call attention to the aid and recovery efforts.
Colombia was hit by a 7.4-magnitude earthquake where the epicenter was reportedly close to San José del Palmar in the Chocó department. The effects of the natural disaster were far-reaching, with reports of collapsed buildings, injuries, and deaths in the cities of Cali, Armenia, Manizales, Pereira, and Quibdó. The reported death toll is at least 111.
Since then, Colombia’s singers and entertainers have expressed words of support for the people affected by this tragedy. In his Instagram stories, J Balvin wrote in Spanish, “Much strength with the situation of the earthquake in Colombia [and] strength to all the people and families affected. We’re going to move quickly to help with the situation.”
