President Donald Trump is slated to sign an executive order cutting the number of vaccines children in the United States are recommended to receive from 18 to 11.A fact sheet obtained by the Washington Examiner says that the executive order will “maximize parental choices over vaccinations for their children.”The drop in the number of vaccines follows recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention late last year, which have been stalled by lawsuits from medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics. A federal judge ruled that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices did not follow proper administrative law procedures when making its recommendation to cut the number of childhood vaccines.
The order also recommends separating the combined MMR vaccine, which inoculates children against measles, mumps, and rubella, into three separate shots. Separate vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella are not offered in the U.S.This is a breaking story and will be updated.
