Rep. John Moolenaar wrote to the Commerce Department calling a Biden-era chip manufacturer rule "critical" to blocking China's access to advanced U.S. chips

Republican Representative John Moolenaar, chair of the House Select Committee on China, called on the Trump administration to enforce a Biden-era rule requiring chip manufacturers to scrutinize orders of advanced logic chips from companies that could be acting as fronts for sanctioned Chinese firms, Reuters.
Writing to Jeffrey Kessler, the top export-control official at the Commerce Department, Moolenaar called the measure "a critical step in preventing [China] from accessing high-end U.S. chips and preserving America's technological edge" and pressed the department to enforce it. Reuters, which first obtained the letter, noted it had not previously been reported.
