The Senate departed Washington on Saturday without taking up the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before beginning a five-week August recess, according to Reuters.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, on Saturday filed a cloture motion on the motion to proceed to the bill, setting up a September 15 vote on whether to limit debate and advance the measure to the full Senate floor. That procedural vote requires 60 votes. A failed cloture vote could effectively kill the bill, according to Reuters.
