More than one million people have been evacuated in eastern China after Typhoon Dolphin, the strongest storm to make landfall in the country this year, brought heavy rain, flooding and strong winds to the region.
Dolphin made landfall in Yuhuan, Zhejiang province, at about 5:30pm local time on Sunday, according to China’s meteorological authorities.
The typhoon reached the coast with maximum sustained winds of about 151 kilometres per hour, disrupting flights and other transport services across eastern China.
