The ASX VR-ea is manufactured at Yulon’s plant in Sanyi Township and is based on Foxtron’s Model B platform, an industry source said

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand Ltd yesterday said that it would introduce a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the fourth quarter of this year, a model codeveloped with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co (鴻華先進). The ASX VR-e BEV, to be launched in the fourth quarter, was developed in partnership with Foxtron and Italian design house Pininfarina SpA, Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand said in a statement. The vehicle would also benefit from the automaker’s local expertise, it said.

The announcement came after Foxtron in June last year said it had signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors Corp to develop EVs to supply right-hand-drive vehicles for the New Zealand and Australian markets. Foxtron is a joint venture between Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) and Yulon Motor Co (裕隆汽車).
