Plans for a data center from Edged outside Mobile, Alabama, could be disrupted by a potential moratorium.
First reported by Fox, the Pritchard City Council last week discussed a proposed temporary moratorium on new permits for data centers.

Council president Traci Hale introduced the resolution, which could pave the way for a 480-day moratorium. If it is passed, it could impact data center firm Edged’s plans for a facility in the city. The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Prichard is a city in Mobile County, near Alabama’s south coast. News that Edged was planning a data center development there surfaced in April, but it has been in the works since last year.
