Kannada organisations from Belagavi will take a delegation to the Chief Minister to urge him to direct the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) to pass a resolution in favour of Mahajan Commission and affirm that Belagavi was an integral part of Karnataka.The delegation is likely to go to Bengaluru after August 15. Members of various organisations met at the district circuit house and resolve to meet Satish Jarkiholi, district in-charge Minister, before leaving for Bengaluru.“We have been protesting for nearly four months now, against the BCC for its delay in passing a resolution saying that Belagavi was an integral part of Karnataka. But Mayor Preeti Kamkar and Deputy Mayor Hanumant Kongali have failed to respond to our demands. Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah assured the Kannada organizations on July 28 that he would issue directions to the BCC to pass the resolution. But there has been no change in the situation. What is more, the Mayor has not convened a monthly meeting since May 13. We have complained to the Chief Secretary, who has already issued a directive to the BCC.
