The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) is set to lead discussions on the future of audit regulation in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) as it convenes its 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit, where regulators, auditors and corporate leaders will examine how technology is reshaping financial reporting and the safeguards needed to preserve public trust.
The summit, themed “Audit Integrity in the AI Era: Independence, Accountability and Reliable Financial Reporting,” will hold on August 13, 2026, in Lagos.
The event comes as AI increasingly transforms business operations, financial reporting and audit processes, prompting regulators globally to strengthen oversight around the use of emerging technologies while maintaining auditor independence, professional scepticism and accountability.
According to the FRC, the summit will provide a platform for high-level discussions on how the audit profession can harness AI without compromising the integrity and reliability of financial reporting. Participants will also explore the opportunities, risks and responsibilities associated with AI adoption in audit and assurance.
The regulator said the conference will feature keynote presentations by local and international thought leaders, regulatory and policy updates that will shape the future of audit and assurance, and strategic discussions on AI, audit quality and professional ethics.
