Germany deported at least 137 Nigerians in five documented charter operations between February and June 2026, highlighting an increasingly coordinated European effort to return migrants as the continent tightens its immigration rules.
The Nigerians were returned to Lagos in successive operations involving German authorities and, in some cases, other European countries and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex.
The deportations were documented by Refugees4Refugees, a Germany-based migration advocacy organisation whose Deportees Emergency Reception and Support team monitors deportation arrivals in Nigeria.
Its records show that the five batches included 27 Nigerians in February, 37 deported directly by Germany during a larger European operation in March, and another 24, 23 and 26 people in April, May and June respectively.
The February operation involved 27 people believed to be Nigerian nationals who were flown from Stuttgart to Lagos aboard a World2Fly charter aircraft.
