The increasing number of senior officials being pulled up by the High Court reflects the ‘executive and administrative failure’ of the Congress government for which Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy must be held accountable, said Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday.Speaking to reporters at the party’s State office, Mr. Rao said the issue was not confined to HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency), which has faced judicial scrutiny over what he described as ‘selective action’. He alleged that several other government departments were also facing criticism from the courts on various issues.Mr. Rao claimed that HYDRAA’s actions, along with the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) policy, had adversely affected development activity in the State. He alleged that the government had failed to provide solutions, including alternative land for industries classified as polluting, resulting in uncertainty among stakeholders.Accusing HYDRAA of ‘misleading’ the High Court, he alleged that educational institutions linked to Majlis party leaders had encroached upon Saklam Lake but had not faced action despite specific court directions. He also questioned why the agency was not acting against alleged illegal constructions in Balapur and Nadergul. On land-related issues, Mr. Rao said the BJP was aware of public concern over the inclusion of private lands in the prohibited properties list under Section 22A. He alleged that both the previous ‘Dharani’ land records system under the BRS government and the current ‘Bhu Bharati’ initiative had become instruments for ‘land grabbing’.The BJP leader said the party would finalise an agitation plan after August 15 on issues, including the proposed tax revisions under the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) framework. He added that party workers were currently engaged in the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, with around one lakh volunteers assisting booth-level officials across the State. He also claimed that the party had collected nearly four lakh signatures demanding fee reimbursement for students.Separately, Mr. Rao urged citizens to participate in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes as per the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A ‘Tiranga Yatra’ would be organised on August 14 from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue to the Swami Vivekananda statue near Tank Bund. BJP general secretary N. Gautam Rao and chief spokesperson N.V. Subash were present. Published - August 10, 2026 06:43 pm IST
