Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), has intensified efforts to upgrade its welfare infrastructure by strengthening canteen facilities across all major production, operational, and administrative zones of the plant.Operating a network of 17 major canteens across key production units including the mills, Steel Melting Shop (SMS), blast furnace, expansion areas, and the administration building, the plant serves affordable and hygienic meals daily. Additionally, nearly 200 extension points deliver food directly to active work locations. On average, 4,000 personnel, both regular employees and contract workers, utilise the canteen services daily, supported by a workforce of around 250 personnel deployed through specialised catering agencies.Over the past three months, the RINL management has rolled out a series of targeted measures aimed at overhauling hygiene standards, upgrading infrastructure, and refining the overall dining environment, according to a release here on Monday.
