Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday (August 10, 2026) thanked all political parties for unanimously supporting the resolution in the Assembly for Tamil Thai Vazhthu to be mandatorily sung first at the beginning of all government functions, including programmes in universities, schools, and public sector undertakings.“Tamil is not just a language. It is a thought, culture, civilisation and our life; Tamil is our soul and our emotion,” he said in a social media post.The Chief Minister said the historic resolution, aimed at protecting the uniqueness, antiquity, pride and special status of the Tamil language and preserving the sentiments of Tamils, was the highest form of respect that could be accorded to Tamil Thai (Tamil Mother).“The day on which this resolution was adopted will forever remain in the history of Tamil Nadu,” he said. “Let the glory of Tamil spread across the world and let Tamil Nadu’s journey of victory continue,” he added.
