A proposal to build a gigawatt-scale data center in Atlanta, Georgia, has been withdrawn by its developer.
The City of Lovejoy, around 24 miles (38.6km) south of Atlanta, announced last week that the developer behind a project called the Stillwater Technology Park had withdrawn the proposal, choosing instead to pursue residential development for the property.

“Over the past several months, our community has engaged in thoughtful conversations regarding the proposed data center. We recognize that this project generated significant public interest and that many Lovejoy residents took the time to attend meetings, ask questions, share concerns, and participate in the public process. We appreciate every Lovejoy resident who chose to engage respectfully and constructively,” said Mayor Marci Fluellyn in a press release on Thursday August 6.
“We respect the developer’s decision to withdraw its application and pursue an alternative vision for the property,” said Fluellyn.
