Ukrainian Ambassador H.E. Olesya Ilashchuk
Ukraine did not intentionally direct the drone that entered Bulgarian airspace toward Bulgaria, Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk said during a meeting with Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova at the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting, which lasted around 30 minutes, was held after the unmanned aircraft entered Bulgarian territory near the Kardam border area on Saturday. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said Ilashchuk expressed deep concern over the incident and confirmed Ukraine's readiness to provide full assistance in determining what happened.
“Ukraine did not intentionally direct drones towards Bulgaria,” the ambassador said, according to the ministry.
Petrova, in turn, conveyed Bulgaria's serious concern and stressed that any unauthorized entry into the country's airspace is unacceptable. Sofia has asked Ukraine to provide all available information that could help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
