A group of House Democrats sent a letter Monday urging House Speaker Mike Johnson to compel the chief executives of OpenAI, Anthropic, and other major AI companies to testify before Congress following a series of cyber breaches involving models developed by those companies, according to CNBC.

The letter, led by Rep. Greg Casar, D-Texas, who chairs the Congressional Progressive $PGR Caucus, was shared with CNBC. It contends that Congress has done nothing adequate to address the dangers of AI development and demands that company chiefs face questioning under oath. The lawmakers also want independent experts to address the public on risks posed by the technology.
