Aug. 10 (UPI) -- At least 13 people were killed and 39 injured overnight after a "massive" raid by Ukrainian drones on Nizhnekamsk in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, 600 miles east of Moscow, that Russia's foreign ministry said would not have been possible without backing from the west.
The strikes involving many hundreds of drones targeted industrial and civilian targets, according to Tattarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov, who said he had declared a period of mourning across the region.
A child was among those killed, Russia's Investigative Committee told TASS.
Russia carried out attacks of its own against eastern regions of Ukraine, killing at least nine people and injuring dozens.
