'More people are now to be deported,' declare the two leaders
Migrants should follow European values and integrate, write Giorgia Meloni and Mette Frederiksen in a statement shared on their respective social media accounts on Monday.
The statement, released simultaneously in Italian and Danish, by the Danish and Italian prime ministers sets out a political vision that both argue must transcend ideological or geographical divides.
“We know that many people are puzzled by our partnership,” the two write. “One leads a large country in the south. The other leads a small country in the north. But we are united in our desire to look after Europe.”
“We both recognise Europe’s Christian cultural heritage and wish to protect it. We expect people who come to our countries and wish to make Europe their home to respect European values and not to impose on us a way of life that we do not want.”
