RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) rose 4.3 percent from the previous month, despite recording a 16.3 percent year-on-year decline, according to preliminary data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) for June 2026.On a monthly basis, mining and quarrying increased 5.1 percent, while manufacturing activity rose 1.8 percent. The manufacturing increase was supported by a 3.1 percent rise in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products and a 1.7 percent increase in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply recorded a 25.4 percent month-on-month increase, while water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities rose 3.9 percent. Within manufacturing, food products recorded the strongest monthly increase at 4.1 percent. On an annual basis, mining and quarrying fell 27 percent compared with June 2025, while manufacturing activity declined 2.3 percent, affected by a 6 percent decrease in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products and a 2.6 percent decline in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. Within manufacturing, basic metals recorded an annual increase of 4.9 percent, while other economic activities increased 3.4 percent and beverages rose 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply increased 2.8 percent year-on-year, while water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities rose 6 percent. By main economic activity, oil activities declined 23.2 percent year-on-year in June, while non-oil activities edged up 0.1 percent. On a monthly basis, oil activities increased 4.6 percent, while non-oil activities rose 3.7 percent.
