The homeowner was excited to move into a new neighbourhood – but things have gone down well with the people who live nearby, so much so they're throwing silly demands11:13, 10 Aug 2026A woman was left distraught when her neighbour demanded she and her husband move out immediately. It's not nice to feel uncomfortable when your nosey neighbour keeps watching over their garden fence. But sometimes there is friction, whether you like it or not. Just recently, a homeowner took revenge on a neighbour's kid who kept playing in their garden. Disputes can happen and are very common if you're living by neighbours from hell, now one woman is in quite a predicament with a female nearby. After moving into the new area, the homeowner has been left rattled by their rude neighbour who demanded they move out.Sharing the situation on Reddit, the person said: "I bought a house and never went around to officially introduce myself. I eventually started meeting some neighbours from being outside while doing yard work."I consider myself polite, quiet, I don't have crazy parties (or parties at all), people aren't coming and going all hours of the night, and I mind my own business."About a year living in my home, a neighbour from across the street (I'd met her husband but never her), marches over and knocks on my door. At first, I didn't know who she was so decided not to answer."Clearly shocked by what unfolded, things took an unexpected turn when the neighbour began shouting through the door, demanding to know why the new homeowner "won't come to talk to her".The woman switched on the doorbell camera and greeted the neighbour, explaining she couldn't answer the door at that moment. But the neighbour flew into a rage, insisting they'd never met and never see any lights on, expressing concern it "sits empty most days".The woman added: "I'm fairly shocked by this given I've NEVER met her nor seen her before and I do, in fact, live in the house I purchased. And I actually live in it every day."I ask which house she is from and that sets her over the edge. She yells about being my neighbour and how rude it is that I never introduced myself to her."This prompted the homeowner to ask which property the woman lived in, to which she bellowed: "If you don't know who I am, that's your fault and you shouldn't be here, you need to move."The woman then stormed off, leaving the homeowner feeling so "shaken up" that she "didn't go out for the rest of the day."She noted she'd spoken with their husband on several occasions, which made her feel "shocked and upset" by what had unfolded. The next day, the homeowner decided to visit the neighbour again in a bid to "smooth things over".Describing the encounter, the woman said: "She was passive aggressive but thanked me for coming over and stated that's all she really wanted. And I've never seen her in person again."She concluded: "I don't plan on moving any time soon, but NFH (neighbours from hell) are truly the worst and I don't enjoy my yard nor my deck anymore. Hopefully when I find the motivation to sell, I'll be able to find neighbours who aren't completely insane."Since the post went live, the Reddit thread has racked up more than 680 comments. One said: "They get mad at you, the new person did not invade into their life to say hello. But if they cared so much about being neighbourly why do they never come by and say hey new neighbour trash day is Thursday and if you don't have a can yet we use XYZ waste management."I think too many folks are so self absorbed they think the world should cater to them and offend when they get a reality check. Best of luck a lot of weird folks out there."Another added: "I love that she repeatedly refused to introduce herself while she was at your front door complaining that you never introduced yourself."Article continues belowA third commented: "Don't let her live in your head. Evict her from there. If even the police are telling her to stop her nonsense then nobody who matters believes her either."Enjoy your house, enjoy your yard and live your best life. Wave and smile any time you happen to see her but don't engage with her at all."
