State-owned Hindustan Copper on Monday reported a sharp rise in net profit for the first quarter of financial year 2027, with profit attributable to owners of the company increasing to Rs 353 crore, a 163% jump from Rs 134 crore reported in the same period a year earlier.Revenue from operations stood at Rs 936.5 crore, marking an 81.4% increase from Rs 516.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to Rs 507.5 crore from Rs 212.3 crore, while the EBITDA margin improved to 54% from 41% a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.Hindustan Copper’s total expenses stood at Rs 481.83 crore in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 596.55 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 347.20 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.Global copper prices are coming off six consecutive weeks of gains, supported by tight supplies and easing concerns over a potential US interest rate hike following last Friday’s jobs data.Copper prices crossed the $14,000-a-tonne mark last week, hitting their highest intraday level since late January. Analysts expect prices to remain elevated globally in the coming quarter.Earnings per share from continuing operations stood at Rs 3.64 in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 4.59 in the previous quarter and Rs 1.39 in Q1FY26. Both basic and diluted EPS stood at Rs 3.64 in Q1FY27.In June, the company received forest clearance from the Rajasthan government for mining operations at its Chandmari copper mine in Jhunjhunu district. In an exchange filing, the state-owned miner said the Rajasthan Forest Department had granted the clearance through a letter dated June 19, 2026. The company received the approval on June 23.
