A Bulgarian private company has been named as a participant in a planned international transfer of Turkish military equipment and ammunition to Ukraine, according to a US State Department notification submitted to Congress and published in the Congressional Record on August 6.
The documents show that the proposed transfer involves 12 M270 multiple launch rocket system launchers, 2,524 M26 unguided rockets with cluster warheads and 47,000 M509A1 203-mm cluster artillery shells. Separately, the United States has proposed approving the transfer of 70 M39 ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine.
The State Department notification, submitted to Congress on August 3, identifies the Bulgarian private company VTIC International Ltd. as one of the companies involved in the transfer of the M270 systems and ammunition. The operation also includes Turkish companies MKE AŞ, ASFAT AŞ and ARCA Savunma San. Tic. AŞ, as well as US companies Pansophico and Patriot Defense Group.
The documents do not describe Bulgaria as a supplier of its own weapons to Ukraine. Instead, VTIC International Ltd. is identified as a Bulgarian private company participating in the international transfer arrangement alongside Turkish and US firms. The company is not listed in the separate notification covering the 70 ATACMS missiles.
