Police believe a "body" found in an abandoned suitcase by a dirt road in southern NSW was actually a sex dollIt was initially feared the abandoned luggage, which was found by members of the public on Sunday afternoon at Oallen, about 60 kilometres south-east of Goulburn, contained a woman's remains.NSW Police released a statement confirming the remains were not human."Following forensic examinations … police confirmed the item located in the bag was a life-like doll, wearing clothing, with hair and a nose piercing," it said."The item also had markings that resembled bruises and grazes."Commander of the Hume Police District, Superintendent Linda Bradbury, has defended the actions of the officers sent to the scene.She said there were "no regrets at all" as the correct processes were followed during the investigation."The idea is to not disturb crime scenes as much as possible, to maintain the integrity of our investigation," Bradbury said."We've been able to collect the remains, and then take them to investigation at forensics to then determine that they are not human."We followed our processes … to a high level and I think it's no regrets all."Police commenced investigations around 1pm on Sunday afternoon, with the remains only confirmed to not be human more than 20 hours later.Bradbury said forensics officers looked inspected the remains at the scene on Sunday before the suitcase was seized for further examination."They were mistaken for a human originally, so they are very realistic in terms of looking like human remains," she said.Suitcase of mistaken identityAuthorities first established a crime scene on Sunday afternoon after they were called to roadside bushland near Wolgon Road at Oallen by two members of the public, who has sighted the suitcase.NSW Police said pair "made the right decision" to report the matter to authorities."The members of the public did initially think they came across human remains," Bradbury said."They were affected yesterday and we will be in touch to let them know that it was not human remains", Bradbury said.Oallen is a small village on the Shoalhaven River in the Southern Tablelands, 109km north-east of Canberra and 254km south-west of Sydney.- ABC
