Apple has officially launched its Apple Pay service in the Philippines, enabling users to make contactless payments using devices such as the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac, making it the fourth Southeast Asian nation to support the feature.According to Apple, the service now supports credit and debit cards issued by major financial institutions, including Chinabank, GoTyme Bank, Metrobank and UnionBank.
Once a card is added to the Wallet app, users can complete purchases at participating brick-and-mortar stores and online platforms, including Starbucks, 7-Eleven, WalterMart, foodpanda, Jollibee, Rustan’s and Shopee.
The Philippines joins Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam as the only countries in the Southeast Asian region to currently support the digital wallet service.
Apple Pay remains unavailable in Thailand despite recurring rumours suggesting a potential rollout. Industry observers note that such speculation has surfaced periodically since 2020, even though Apple has yet to announce any official timeline or operational framework for Thailand.
