The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on all 19 presidential candidates cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 election to publicly declare their assets and liabilities and commit to rejecting vote-buying before the polls.
The organisation said Nigerians deserve to know the financial standing of those seeking the country's highest office, arguing that transparency, accountability and integrity should be demonstrated before candidates ask citizens to entrust them with public power.
In an open letter dated August 8, 2026, and signed by SERAP's Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the anti-corruption group urged the candidates to voluntarily publish details of their assets and liabilities, including those of their spouses and, where applicable, their unmarried children under the age of 18.
