The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended by three days the deadline for political parties to submit the lists of their candidates for the 2027 governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The commission said the deadline, originally fixed for Saturday, August 8, 2026, has now been moved to Tuesday, August 11, following appeals by political parties for additional time to complete the submission process.

INEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

According to the commission, political parties are expected to upload their lists of candidates through the dedicated portal within the extended period.

The development comes as INEC announced the suspension of PVC collection in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
