CPC Corp, Taiwan (CPC, 台灣中油) announced on Saturday that it would leave domestic retail gasoline and diesel prices unchanged this week.Formosa Petrochemical Corp (台塑石化) yesterday said it would also keep fuel prices unchanged this week.The announcements marked the second consecutive week that CPC and Formosa maintained their domestic fuel prices at the same levels.
CPC said its floating pricing mechanism, based on a weighted average of 70 percent Dubai crude and 30 percent Brent crude, showed that the average international crude oil price fell to US$82.20 last week from US$83.99 per barrel the previous week after the US canceled plans to strike Iran.A stronger New Taiwan dollar, which averaged NT$32.350 against the US dollar last week, compared with NT$32.360 a week earlier, also increased CPC’s purchasing power, it said.
Retail gasoline prices this week would remain at NT$30.5 (US$0.94), NT$32.0 and NT$34.0 per liter for 92, 95 and 98-octane unleaded gasoline respectively at CPC and Formosa stations, while prices for premium diesel would stay at NT$29.3 per liter at CPC stations and NT$29.1 per liter at Formosa pumps, the companies said.
