SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur, Philippines—Residents in high-risk areas of Ilocos Sur have been ordered to evacuate amid continuous rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, on Sunday, Aug. 9.

In an advisory, the provincial government, led by Gov. Jerry Singson, urged residents living near slopes, rivers, low-lying communities and coastal areas to proceed immediately to designated evacuation centers.

The advisory called on residents to cooperate with authorities, remain calm, and stay alert as rains continue to affect the province.
