Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who is also a candidate in the 2027 presidential election, has filed a legal complaint after becoming the target of deepfakes, accusing "foreign interference originating from Russian networks."

The lawsuit, filed in Paris on Friday evening, August 7, condemns "acts of foreign interference, information manipulation and the fabrication of falsified content that could undermine the fundamental interests of the nation and the integrity of future presidential elections."
According to the politician's lawyers, Sasha Ghozlan and Lucas Weil, after the first report published on Wednesday concerning "external digital interference" that was "originating from Russia," government authorities informed Attal on Friday of a new interference operation that took place on Thursday and "again originated from Russian networks."
The lawyers said they had uncovered deepfakes, fake video reports and fake newspaper front pages on social media and other platforms.
