The Air Force has provided updated details regarding the attack on the Odesa region on the night of August 9. Specifically, Russia launched 11 missiles, most of which were ballistic, up to 100 drones, and the Banderol loitering munitions.
According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
“During a massive strike on the Odesa region on the night of August 9, 2026, the enemy used 11 missiles of various types, most of which followed a ballistic trajectory to their targets. Up to 100 enemy UAVs of various types were also detected, including jet-powered drones and Banderol-type loitering munitions,” the statement reads.
As noted, as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, air defense systems had shot down 72% of the UAVs, as well as five out of six Banderol drones and one missile.
In addition, as a result of active countermeasures, three missiles failed to reach their targets—their locations (impact sites) are being determined.
