Over the past few weeks, Russian troops in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector have established several small areas of control near the Ukrainian border.

According to Ukrinform, Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Task Force, stated this on television.

“Over the past few days, activity [in the Joint Forces Task Force's area of control] has decreased slightly. But this is a short-term trend, as activity was quite high earlier this week. This was particularly true in the Lyman and Southern Slobozhanshchyna sectors, where the enemy continues to launch active attacks. In the case of the Lyman sector, this is an attempt at an active offensive directly against the city of Lyman to establish a foothold there. In the case of the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, it is an attempt to wedge in and find gaps directly along the Ukrainian border in order to create small, but nonetheless significant, zones of control there,” he said.

Tregubov noted that, overall, the enemy’s attempts are being thwarted in both cases. At the same time, he stated, “In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, several new Russian zones of control have nevertheless emerged over the past few weeks.” However, he added, these are located very close to the border and are small.
