Morocco will face either Nigeria or Cameroon in the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after securing a 2-1 victory over South Africa on Saturday night.

The Atlas Lionesses advanced to the last four after overcoming the reigning African champions in a closely contested quarter-final.

Sakina Ouzraoui opened the scoring for the hosts before Hanan Ait El Haj extended Morocco’s advantage from the penalty spot.

South Africa, known as Banyana Banyana, pulled one back through Thembi Kgatlana in the 67th minute, but Morocco held firm to secure their place in the semi-finals.

The hosts will now await the outcome of Sunday’s quarter-final between Nigeria and Cameroon to discover their next opponents.
