Collector Nishant Krishna on Saturday participated in a heritage walk covering the important heritage sites of Madurai. The event was organised by the Tourism Department.The important heritage sites that were covered during the heritage walk were: Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Sethupathi Hospital, Pathu Thoon, Vilakkuthoon, Kothaval Chavadi, Temple Cars, Ezhukadal Street, Raya Gopuram, Pudu Mandapam, Vitta Vaasal, Nagara Mandapam and Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple.The Collector instructed the officials to install information boards and markers to help the tourists learn about Madurai’s heritage and historical landmarks and preserve the heritage sites. He also instructed the officials to take necessary measures to improve basic amenities for tourism development, properly maintain the walkways and roads, keep the surroundings clean, and provide necessary facilities for the public and the tourists.Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Archaeologist V.
