Jipmer’s Women and Children’s Hospital has bagged Platinum Certification for the second time under the Centre’s LaQshya programme.

The Women and Children’s Hospital of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research has received Platinum Certification under the Government of India’s LaQshya (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) programme for the second consecutive year. In a release, Jipmer said the LaQshya programme initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was aimed at enhancing the quality of care in labour rooms and maternity operation theatres by promoting evidence-based clinical practices, patient safety, infection prevention and control, emergency preparedness, and respectful maternity care. The certification was given after a rigorous two-tier assessment process. Following the National-level certification awarded last year, Jipmer successfully secured the platinum status during renewal assessment conducted this year by the State Assessment Team achieving exceptional scores of 99.5% and 99%. These outstanding scores reflect the institute’s sustained adherence to the highest standards of maternal and newborn care, the release said. The Women and Children’s Hospital is one of the busiest centres in the region, conducting 800-900 deliveries every month. As a regional referral centre for high-risk pregnancies, Jipmer provided comprehensive multidisciplinary obstetric care supported by dedicated maternal medicine services and continuous capacity building in critical care, the release added.Complimenting the Jipmer staff for bagging the certification for the second time, the Jipmer Director, Vir Singh Negi said the achievement was a reflection of “unwavering” dedication of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals of the hospital towards patient care.
