Amid a State-wide search for absconding history-sheeter Arjun Ayanki, the Ernakulam Rural Cyber Crime Police have registered a fresh case against him for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan through social media.The case was registered based on a complaint from one Manoj Jose Azhakath. He had emailed the complaint to the State Police Chief on August 7, and it was subsequently forwarded to the District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural).According to the FIR, the post, allegedly published by Mr. Ayanki at 9.52 p.m. on August 5, was intended to defame the Chief Minister in public, corrupt the minds of viewers and provoke public disorder or a riotMr. Ayanki has been booked under Section 192 of the BNS (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot), Section 296(b) of the BNS (uttering obscene words or making obscene sounds in or near a public place), and Section 67 of the IT Act, 2000 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form).The fresh case comes amid an intensified manhunt for Mr. Ayanki after being booked for allegedly threatening and abusing police officers through social media.A 10-member special squad has stepped up the search for the youth after he allegedly released abusive voice messages and social media posts targeting the Kothamangalam and Oonnukal Station House Officers following his release on bail in an earlier criminal conspiracy case.
