A shocking incident emerged in bushland in Australia’s Queensland, where eleven people have reportedly been charged after a teen was allegedly bashed and left wrapped in plastic, according to ABC Australia. The case came to light after a jogger found the boy zip-tied and wrapped in plastic off Cape Pallarenda Road in Townsville at about 6:35 a.m. on July 18.People charged after teen found bound in Townsville bushlandAccording to a Queensland Police Service (QPS) press release shared on Friday, August 7, 2026, three people have been charged, with six others in custody. The police department also claimed that the victim was 17 years old and had sustained serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted and tied to a tree.Cops launch probe and investigate targetted attack and tortureSpeaking about the incident, Dave Miles of the Townsville Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Unit said Friday that the alleged attack was not random. "It's concerning, from our perspective, the level of violence that was used and the way in which this young person was left in Pallarenda," he said, as quoted by ABC Australia. "Torture is a very significant charge and something we, thankfully, don't see a lot of."Senior Sergeant Miles alleged the teen was bashed at a house in Heatley before being "dumped," wrapped in plastic and unable to move for more than five hours at Pallarenda.Car crash yields critical evidenceAccording to police, a car apparently involved in the incident was later driven erratically along the nearby Strand and had a collision. Investigators allegedly found items inside the car that Senior Sergeant Miles said assisted in the investigation.Initial arrests and serious charges laidA 13-year-old Deeragun boy appeared in Townsville Children's Court on July 24. He was charged with four offences, including torture, Queensland Police said. Charges against him were one count each of deprivation of liberty, unlawfully detain/confine, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, grievous bodily harm, and torture.“On 28 July, a 35-year-old Kirwan woman was located and charged with five offences including one count each of deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, grievous bodily harm, torture and driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence SPER Susp (Qld Lic),” the press release said. She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court on 28 September, it further stated.A 14-year-old Kirwan girl was charged with four offences including one count each of grievous bodily harm, torture, deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, and assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company. She has been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.Eleven accused face courtAccording to ABC Australia, another eight people, including two men aged 30 and 34, three women aged 36, 32 and 40, and three 14-year-olds, were charged on Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, according to the Queensland Police release, another six people were taken into custody in relation to the matter on August 7.Each face multiple charges, including torture. Senior Sergeant Miles said the victim was in a stable condition but had sustained many bone fractures and had required several surgeries.
