In the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region, the occupying administration is closing schools and kindergartens on a massive scale.
According to Ukrinform, the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council reported this on Facebook.
“While the official propaganda of the so-called ‘Donetsk People's Republic’ reports on the ‘restoration of certain schools,’ the digitization of education, and so on, in practice, educational institutions are being closed en masse, ‘reorganized,’ or ‘merged.’ As a result, many teachers are losing their jobs with little chance of finding new employment. After all, the main goal of this ‘reform’ is to cut costs on teachers’ salaries,” the statement reads.
The center noted that, due to the occupation’s “education reform,” many communities are left without any schools or kindergartens. Currently, 12 schools and 24 kindergartens are known to have been closed, and another 69 educational institutions are being “reorganized.”
