The Legal Coordination Committee (LCC) for Government Doctors has appealed to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to grant a government job to the wife of Vivekanandan, a doctor who died while on COVID-19 duty.The association also urged Mr. Vijay to grant her financial relief and issue the appointment order on Independence Day. The association said in a statement that Dr. Vivekanandan passed away during the first wave of COVID-19 in 2020, while serving at the Pallipattu Government Hospital. His wife, Divya Vivekanandan, has been pleading for relief and a government job for over five years.The association recalled the role played by government doctors and hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eleven government doctors, who were engaged in saving lives, succumbed to the infection.The association also urged the government to grant pay band-4 to government doctors on completing 12 years of service, the release said.
