TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, Philippines — Calbayog City in Samar province is moving to tighten safety and security rules around its airport as it prepares for planned infrastructure improvements and seeks to expand the daily air link with Cebu.
The proposed Calbayog Airport Safety and Security Ordinance is advancing through the city council, with the Sangguniang Panlungsod holding its third public hearing last month attended by local officials, representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) and other stakeholders.
The measure seeks to regulate activities, structures and other potential hazards within the vicinity of the airport that could threaten aircraft operations and passenger safety.
