The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has celebrated Team Nigeria’s outstanding performance at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the country emerged as the highest-ranked African nation.
Montgomery hosted a reception in Abuja on Friday in honour of the Nigerian athletes, coaches and officials who participated in the Games, which brought together approximately 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories.
The British High Commission, in a statement issued on Saturday, recalled how Nigeria finished as the only African country in the overall top 10, winning 24 medals comprising 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze.
