Greenland’s government has issued a “strong warning” to the holder of an oil exploration licence after equipment intended for a planned drilling project was moved without the required approval from the territory’s mineral resources authority.
The dispute concerns Nunap Qeqqa, also known as Jameson Land, in eastern Greenland. The project has drawn attention because Texas-based Greenland Energy Company plans to finance exploration and take a majority interest in the venture.
The Guardian has reported links between people involved in Greenland Energy and US President Donald Trump’s political circle.
