NatJoints chairperson Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili says seven suspects have been arrested in connection with politically motivated killings ahead of the Local Government Elections.
Police have issued a stern warning to perpetrators of political violence, saying those responsible for attacks and assassinations linked to the upcoming Local Government Elections will be hunted down and prosecuted.
Addressing a media briefing on Friday, Deputy National Commissioner for police Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili said authorities were concerned by the recent killings of political party members and councillors across the country.
"We are issuing a stern warning to anyone who is planning attacks, assassinations or acts of violence for political gain: you will be arrested, prosecuted and, upon conviction, face lengthy prison sentences," Mosikili said.
"There is absolutely no justification for taking the life of another person because of political differences or political contestation."
