TVTV ReviewsOpinionThis charming and hilarious series has been renewed for a second season.08:21, 08 Aug 2026It’s been a while since a comedy series really grabbed me. I tend to watch darker shows — dramas, crime procedurals or documentaries are my usual fare — but I could not stop watching the new FX ensemble Adults.‌Adults, created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw and produced by Nick Kroll (Big Mouth) follows a group of hapless 20-somethings living together in the back end of New York.‌The characters are all absolute messes, perhaps with the exception of Paul Baker, who goes by full name only, a lovable Canadian import played by Jack Innanen who acts like the glue of the group.‌He is the boyfriend of Issa, a narcissistic yet charming diva played by Amita Rao and their dynamic is lovely to watch.Other members of the friend group are Anton, a charismatic “friend slut” who finds connection with everyone, but struggles to find a romantic spark. Anton is brought to life by Owen Thiele, who’s comedic timing is second to none.‌Then there’s Billie (Lucy Freyer) and Samir (Malik Elassal) who have been best friends since childhood and are the original friends of the group.Samir is struggling to find his feet in his career after hilariously botching a job interview with a fin-tech company when he gets a little too excited at the offer, and Billie is constantly chasing the high of being a gifted student in high school.I watched the first season in under a week, because not only is it so watchable, the episodes are only 20 minutes or so long and with eight episodes in a season, it’s the perfect show to binge, I watched it so fast.‌I was disappointed that there wasn't more, but luckily for me, Adults was renewed. The new series will premiere at the end of the month, and to tide me over, a prequel episode was released last week which got me super excited for the new series. The show's first series has a 7.4 IMDB rating, and people who have watched it are equally as excited as I am for the new series.Article continues belowOne person wrote: “My biggest complaint is I wish we got longer episodes to really spend time with this group of misfits. If you're looking for a show that captures our moment I highly recommend FX's Adults.”Another said: “This show is so easy to binge. I finished it in one day and I'm already so obsessed with all of the characters. My only complaint, as I mentioned in the title of this review, is that I need 20 more seasons immediately. “The first season of Adults is available to stream now on Disney Plus.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌Disney PlusUS televisionComedyOpinion
