TVTV NewsGood Morning BritainRichard Madeley has opened up about working with wife and former co-presenter Judy Finnigan.08:36, 08 Aug 2026Updated 08:36, 08 Aug 2026Richard Madeley recalls rowing with Judy before This Morning Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has lifted the lid on what it was like to work with his wife, Judy Finnigan, on This Morning.‌The couple began hosting from the first ever episode of the ITV daytime programme back in 1988, after marrying two years earlier and welcoming their son and daughter.‌Richard and Judy had already worked together at Granada, where they first met, and he recently shared what it was like behind-the-scenes.‌During a recent stint presenting Good Morning Britain, standing in for the likes of Ed Balls and Susanna Reid during their summer break, Richard recalled rows with Judy off-camera.Speaking to co-host Charlotte Hawkins and guests Nigel Havers and Kerry Katona, Richard admitted that he and Judy "inevitably" rowed before the show, on their way travelling from their home to the studios, reports Cornwall Live.‌Richard revealed that he and Judy sometimes wouldn't speak once they arrived to do the show, saying "we wouldn't talk".He went on to say that when "the cameras would go on" they would be "all eyes and teeth".Richard quipped that though he and Judy thought they would "do their best to sit on it", in the end "the viewers could always tell" and several would phone in to say that Richard and Judy had fought.‌Though Judy has now taken a step back from the TV industry, Richard has continued presenting on the likes of Good Morning Britain.During an episode of Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time podcast, they spoke about their close bond and working together.‌Judy shared: “Obviously, I think working together for so long has bonded us more tightly than if we had two completely separate jobs."Richard added: "I can see that from the outside, it looks as if... as you say, we were bonded in our professional lives together and now we're not, but actually, here on the inside, we still are."He added: "So we're not actually as detached, I suppose we're a bit semi-detached, but we're not detached in the way that it might seem to outsiders."Article continues belowGood Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌ITVGood Morning BritainRichard and Judy
