Abia Lifts Vulnerable Citizens with N1.2 Billion, Extend NFWP to 9 LGs

Abia State Government has spent about N1.2 billion on vulnerable citizens in the state, just as it has expanded its participation in the Nigeria for Women Programme from three to nine local governments with 6, 000 affinity groups.
Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this at a post-Executive Council weekly meeting media briefing.
Kanu identified vulnerable who benefitted from the government’s compassionate gesture to include citizens who received assistance ranging from life-saving medical treatment, persons living with disabilities who got housing support, disaster victims provided with emergency accommodation and indigent students that enjoyed educational assistance, between January to August this year. He said about N1.2 billion was disbursed to the beneficiaries.
