Through strategic healthcare investments, Zenith Bank is demonstrating that corporate social responsibility can save lives, restore dignity and give vulnerable Nigerians a second chance, writes Omolabake Fasogbon
For many Nigerians, a cancer diagnosis is often the beginning of a financial, emotional and psychological crisis. Families sell property, exhaust their savings, borrow heavily or simply abandon treatment because they cannot afford the cost of chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. In a country where access to specialist cancer care remains limited and treatment costs are beyond the reach of many households, thousands of lives are lost each year, not only because of the disease itself but because help arrives too late or not at all.
Against this backdrop, Zenith Bank Plc is redefining what corporate social responsibility (CSR) means in Nigeria. Rather than limiting CSR to periodic donations or symbolic community projects, the bank has adopted a long-term approach that addresses one of the country’s most pressing public health challenges.
Through strategic investments in cancer awareness, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment, Zenith Bank is demonstrating that corporate institutions can become powerful partners in saving lives and strengthening healthcare delivery.
